I have a 93TT with 80k miles and recently notices multiple specs on the windshield when the sun hits it just right. When I tried cleaning and even using a clay bar on it I discovered the windshield has hundreds of tiny, pin head sized chips in it. They are not deep at all and none are big enough to to cause cracks or spread but I was kind of shocked at this. The condition of my hood and facia is great with the exception of a few small paint chips that give no indication to what may have caused this on the windshield. Has anyone else noticed this upon close inspection of their windshields and is there anything that can be done to fill or smooth it out? I wonder if the glass is somehow soft on these cars or if some environmental factor may have caused this tiny etching of the glass. Any ideas?
TIA
